Arriving on Sept. 24, 2020.
The Connection Issue: a documentation of the human condition during the COVID-19 pandemic and the Black Lives Matter movement in the U.S.
Rather than focusing on the politics of it all, this issue is an effort to provide connection when our sense of stability and things we knew in the outside world began to change — possibly forever. The pieces in this magazine help connect the dots in what's become a destabilized and fragmented time in our communities. This issue features poetry, dance, illustrations, drawings, photography, essays, and short stories that we feel convey the different aspects of connection during this time.
Submissions were received through an open call in May 2020. That open call ended on May 25, the day George Floyd was murdered. Subsequently, pieces were added to reflect what became another turning point in 2020: the resurgence of the Black Lives Matter movement.
Featuring pieces by Allison Radomski, Amelia Conrad, Cailey Tervo, Charla Johnson, Christian Moore, Daneila Rodriguez, Grace Bellury, Jawaune Johnson, Joshua Jarrett, Marina Belotserkovskaya, Meghan Dowlen, Nadia Maryam, Nazrene Alsiro, Noah Nelson, Patricia Villafane, Shansia Person, Tatiana Bell, and Zachary Francois.
